AT&T, Verizon and other operators will start to launch 5G networks in 2019. But what's 5G, and how fast is it compared with the 4G network? Some fact we would like to share so far what we know.
5G Is (Barely) Real
In the late year of 2018 Verizon and AT&T both launched 5G services preliminary, The real race to 5G, the new cellular system that will potentially transform the world to starts now.
What we do have. Verizon has a "5G" home service I the limited parts of Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, and Sacramento, delivering fiber-like home internet speeds over wireless. AT&T is running friendly user trials with mobile hotspots in twelve cities, but it looks like it will be a few months before regular folks can buy and use the carrier's 5G hotshots.

5G is an investment for the next decade, and in previous mobile transitions system, we have seen most of the big changes happening years after the first announcement. 4G, for instance, and the first 4G phones in the US appeared in the year of 2010. But the sorts of 4G applications that changed the world didn't appear. Snapchat came in the year of 2012, and Uber became widespread in 2013. Video calls over LTE networks also became widespread in the US 2013 so far.
So while we are getting a little bit more from 5G right now, you should expect the big 5G applications to crop up to 2022.
5G stands for fifth-generation cellular wireless, and the initial standards for it were fixed at the end of 2017. But a standard doesn't mean that all the 5G will work the same that we even know what applications 5G will active. There will be slow but responsive 5G also, and fast 5G with limited area. Let us take you down the 5G in the hole to give you a picture of what the upcoming 5G world.
1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G

The G stand for Generation and 5G means it's a generation of wireless technology. While most generations have technically been defined by data transmission speeds, each has also been marked by a break in encoding type or system, or "air interfaces," that make it incompatible with the previous generation.
1G was analog cellular. 2G technologies is like CDMA, GSM, and TDMA, were the first generation of digital cellular technologies. 3G technologies is like EVDO, HSPA, and UMTS, brought speeds from 200kbps to a few megabits per second. 4G technologies, such as WiMAX and LTE.
5G brings three new aspects to the table: greater speed, lower latency, and the ability to connect a lot more devices at once.
The actual 5G radio system, known 5G-NR, isn't compatible with 4G. But all 5G devices initially, will need 4G because they will lean on it to make initial connections before trading up to 5G where it's available.
The real advantages of 5G technology will come in massive capacity and low latency, beyond the levels 4G technologies can achieve.
That symbiosis between the 4G and the 5G has caused AT&T to get a little overenthusiastic about the 4G network. The carrier has started to call its 4G network and "5G Evolution," because it sees improving 4G as a major step to 5G technology. It's right, of course, but the phrasing is designed to confuse the consumers into thinking 5G Evolution is 5G, when it is not.
What is 5G & How 5G Works
Like other mobile networks, 5G use a system of cell sites that divide their territory into sectors and send radio waves encoded data.
Each cell site must be connected with a network backbone, whether through a wired or wireless connection.
5G networks will use a type of encoding which is called OFDM, this is similar to the encoding that 4G. The air interface is designed considering lower latency and greater flexibility than 4G/LTE.
5G networks need to be much smarter than the previous 4G system and a smaller device that can change size. But even with existing macro phones. 5G will be able to boost four times over current systems by leveraging wider bandwidths and advanced technologies.
The goal is to get far higher speeds available, and far higher capacity, at far lower latency than 4G/LTE
The standards bodies involved are achieving at 20Gbps speeds and 1ms latency which will be very interesting things begin to happen near future.

what is barely and Low-frequency 5G networks use existing cellular and Wi-Fi bands, take advantage of more flexible encoding and bigger channel sizes to achieve 25 to 50 percent better speeds than LTE, according to a presentation by T-Mobile exec Karri Kuoppamaki. Those networks can cover the same distances as existing mobile networks and generally will not need additional cell sites define barely.

We are expecting to know about the first AT&T 5G phone, likely a version of the Samsung Galaxy S10, in late February. AT&T will use 39GHz spectrum for the initial rollout, followed by 28GHz, and then low band, former 3G spectrum later.
WHO'S LAUNCHING 5G WHEN?
5G phones will only support the 5G systems being used in the US. They will not support low-band and other FDD networks, such as T-Mobile's 600MHz and AT&T's old 3G spectrum. So if broad 5G coverage is more important than top speeds in urban areas, you may want to wait for the cell phone that supports 5G networks.
Samsung Galaxy S10, for AT&T, Verizon, and possibly Sprint will bring 5G phones. Sprint has said an integrated 4G/5G Android phone from LG is coming to its network during the "first half of 2019."
Verizon's first 5G phone could be Moto Z3, which has a 5G add-on promised. Many other companies OnePlus, ZTE, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi, have pledged to produce 5G phones in 2019. But it's not clear if any of those will come to the US, as the beginning round of 5G phones is likely to be carrier-specific.
Maybe there will be a 5G iPhone in 2020, but not before.
Verizon wants to initially use 5G as a home internet, and everybody else is more focused on faster smartphones. Just to get the networks built so more interesting applications can develop in the future.
The top ideas included a game streaming service. All of these ideas need the high bandwidth, low latency, or low-power low cost aspects of 5G
Another aspect of 5G can connect many more devices at a time Right now, 4G modules are expensive, power-consuming, and demand complicated to the service plans, so much of the Internet stuffs still stuck with Wi-Fi and other technologies for consumers, or 2G for businesses. 5G will accept small, inexpensive, low-power devices and connect a lot of smaller objects through the internet.
What about phones and what's 5g internet? 5G could bring is in virtual and augmented reality as phones transform into devices meant to be used with VR headsets, the very low latency and consistent speeds of 5G will give you an internet augmented, if and when you want it. The small cell aspects of 5G may also help in building coverage, as it encourages every home router to become a cell.
